I Need Some Color

What was supposed to be a super busy weekend ended up being a SLOW weekend.  Tyler woke up yesterday morning sick as a dog.  My poor baby girl!  She was feeling better by lunch, but needless to say we didn't get out.

When I am at home a lot, I get these modes to rearrange our furniture or paint the walls.  All of our walls or WHITE!  I am loosing my mind!!  I am a girl that needs color on walls.  And when I say color, I mean bright colors!  Three years of WHITE is making me go INSANE!

So what is the hold up?  Our downstairs living/dining area is set up really weird.  Pictures cannot show how weird it is set up!  And then half of the area has really, really high ceilings and the other half has normal ceilings!  I swear they did this to encourage you not to paint!

I have thought about doing an accent wall, but a little unsure of how it will look due to the layout of the floor plan.  I am really looking forward to getting some advice from my mom this weekend.

Here are some pictures, but I was unable to get the true idea of how the area is set up.  And another reason for wanting to paint is the horrible lighting in this house!!

Like I said, horrible lighting in the house.  The couches are chocolate brown.
We have also added khaki colored drapes since these pictures were taken.
The ottoman is black.  You cannot tell in the pic, but this area has the high ceilings.

This is the dining area.  The pictures are no longer there.
The pic below shows the mirror that is now hanging on this wall.
We also have the matching khaki curtains hanging in the big window.
This is the wall that I thought about painting as an accent wall, but is the shortest wall.

This is the mirror and you can see the drapes hanging.
Horrible pic, but you get the idea.

I do not have a picture of the long wall in the area.  The long wall has a collage of framed pictures and our tv.  Our couches face this wall and could work as an accent wall.

This morning, I was messing around on Sherman Williams.  Here are some of the colors that I really liked:

I know that I will catch a lot of flack for this, but it matches my personality.
Plus in the winter, I would always have sunshine in the house!!  And it is only 1 wall.

So what do you think.  I may try to upload a video this week of our living area.  But this week is going to be crazy with Tyler's last day of school and her recital coming up next weekend and family coming up.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

  1. Ooh, I adore that yellow color! We did red in our living room and love it. All the trim and ceiling we painted bright white and the contrast really pops and keeps it from looking dark. Good luck on the decorating! Have fun!

  2. I love the yellow!!! I think it would look great!! :)

  3. I love the yellow! Maybe if you just did an accent wall, would that be perhaps a little less overwhelming but still get your color fix? That's what we did.

  4. Hi, I just found your blog and look forward to getting to read more =) By the way, I love the yellow!!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!
